The month of August has come. This month, it is one of the most favorite times of I, Ramón the Mink of Love. The days are still long and hot, but the nights are Longer and Hotter Yet, the summer, it is now beginning its long spiral down into the autumn. Young Lovers are enjoying the Last Delights of the warm, Sweaty months before the end. The school is beginning in a month, and all the young Paramours are Enjoying each other before they are having to hit the books once again. Yes this month of August, it is indeed a Month of Love. And yet, did you know that it was once named for the very Act of Passion?
The ancient Romans, they were calling this month Sextember. To them, it was a month of Love, a month to be Sharing themselves with all the others. You see, this was the time just before the harvest. The Romans, they understood that the best way to be encouraging the fertile crops was to Celebrate their own Fertility. So they would be spending this month in Lustful Contemplation of the Passionate Mysteries, Writhing on the floors of their pagan temples with all who would be Joining them! Does this not sound like a wonderful way in which to be Living?
But then Caesar Augustus, the first Roman Emperor, was seizing power. Augustus was a most warlike and vengeful man. Any that he was not liking, he would be putting to the sword. The Love, it was truly buried deep in his heart. In his pride and his vanity, he thought himself a living god. And he looked upon the people’s Passionate Supplications to the Gods of Lust, and he grew jealous. So he took it upon himself to end the month of Sextember for all time. He named it August, after himself, so that all would be remembering his glory instead of the Love that had Flowered before.
Rome was now a great force that was conquering all the nations around it. This is how the Pax Romana, or “Roman Peace” was beginning. No other country was daring to stand up to Rome’s might for hundreds of years. By then, the original Peaceful and Loving ways of the Romans had been all but forgotten. Fortunately, the might of Rome was beginning to crumble against the incursions of the more Passionate Germanic tribes like the Goths and the Vandals. But by then it was being too late. Sextember was just a distant memory.
And now, two thousand years after Caesar Augustus was living, we are left with August. And though August is a Lovely month, it is still nothing compared to the original Sextember. And so I, Ramón the Mink of Love, am making a humble proposition to you! Let us be bringing back the Sextember of old! This way, we may be honoring both the ancient Romans, and our modern Lusts and Needs.
Look at August! How many holidays is it containing? Some countries may be having a couple of bank holidays, but that is all. I say the people, they are needing more reasons to Celebrate! Just think of all the holidays we could be adding to Sextember. I, Ramón the Mink of Love, am thinking that the first day of Sextember should be the International Day of Love. This will be the day that Lovers of the world Unite in Blissful, Dripping Harmony, to fight those who would keep them down. Then, Sextember fifteenth would be the Ides of Sextember. This would be a day to be looking back on our Ancient Lustly Birthrights. It would be a day on which all would wear togas and drink wine, and Love all whom they are seeing. Then, at the end, we could be having the Twelve Days of Love. On these days we would all be giving to each other the Gifts of Passion—the Personal Massagers and the Handcuffs and the Flavored Prophylactics. What could be finer?
Of course, all of this cannot be happening without the power of our elected representatives. So please, be contacting your Congressperson or your Member of Parliament or whomever is representing you, and beg them to be introducing this before your legislature. Perhaps, you could even be including a little Sextember present for them, so that they will be better Sharing in your Zeal. With a little effort, Sextember may be living yet again!♥
